Take your vacation off the beaten path and embrace the call of the wild at Gulf State Park, where you can hike trails in the morning, sink your feet in the sand that afternoon, and fish on Lake Shelby at dusk. Our nine ecosystems make us as unique as we are beautiful and offers a wide variety of activities for everyone to enjoy.
Gulf State Park is home to over one hundred different species of wildlife, including alligators, beavers, otters, coyotes, bobcats, and an incredible array of birds that you might encounter during your stay. Of course, the best way to see wildlife is to get closer to nature and explore our 28 miles of trails that you can enjoy by foot or bicycle.
Take to the water and enjoy over 500 acres of Lake Shelby by kayak, canoe, or paddleboard. If you do not have either, daily rentals are available within the park through Coastal Segway Tours. Featuring both brackish and fresh water, fishing will reap a variety of bass, mullet, blue crab, speckled trout, catfish, and redfish. As well, you can visit the Gulf State Pier for a large variety of saltwater fishing.
